In 1961, Dag Hammarskjöld has one year left in his position as UN Secretary-General. He will then move home to Österlen and finally put politics behind him. But at the same time, the Cold War is raging in full force, and in Africa the focal point is in the Congo. Dag Hammarskjöld takes on the complicated task of mediating peace and agreement in the inflamed conflict in the divided country. An impossible task according to many, a suicide mission according to others.

The feature was nominated for Best Visual Effects and Best Cinematography at Guldbagge Awards 2024, and won Best Score 2024 at Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival. The feature had its international premiere at Rotterdam International Film Festival 2024.
